Ralph Boschung starts 2022 F2 campaign with two fourth place finishes

Ralph Boschung got his 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship season off to a great start in Bahrain, taking a pair of fourth-place finishes for the Campos Racing team.

The Swiss driver was instantly on the pace, matching his best-ever qualifying in F2, grabbing fifth place on the grid for the Feature Race, which left him in sixth for the reverse-grid Sprint Race on Saturday evening.

Ralph was quick off the line, getting as high as second with a daring move around the outside Jehan Daruvala at Turn 4 on the opening lap. He remained a constant challenger for the podium positions throughout Saturday’s race but an issue with a wiring loom halted his charge and he finished in fourth.

In Sunday’s Feature Race, a brilliant launch as the lights went out saw Ralph challenge for the lead by the first corner, with another controlled drive giving him a second fourth place finish of the weekend.

FIA Formula 2 continues next week in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on March 25-27.

Ralph Boschung: “I was happy to begin the weekend strongly and to match my best-ever F2 qualifying. Campos Racing gave me a great car we had the potential to challenge for the lead in the Sprint Race. I had good getaway off the line and had good pace until the issue with the wiring loom.

“I got another brilliant launch on Sunday to fight at the front and I’m really happy to start the season with two great results. I feel positive about returning to Jeddah next weekend, where I scored my first F2 podium last season.

“I want to say a big thank you to Carl Runefelt and Casa Andrea for their support this season, and I hope we can continue to fight at the front all year.”
