Ralph Boschung F2 Blog: Sochi

It was great to be back in the Trident car for the Russian round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship, especially as it was my first time racing in Sochi in this series.

Qualifying was super close between me and my team-mate but overall we couldn’t find the pace we were looking for so I started the Feature Race from 15th. We opted for the alternate strategy and started on the medium tyres to run long into the race. I was in seventh for most of it but really struggled towards the end of the stint as I had very little grip left.

It was nice to be charging at the end of the race on new, soft tyres but unfortunately we didn’t really make progress through the field and finished 14th.

I was glad to get through the melee at the start of the Sprint Race without damage, although I had to go off track to avoid some cars and I got a time penalty for that. I made up a couple of places to 12th in the end.
