Swiss driver Ralph Boschung will return to the FIA Formula 2 Championship paddock, participating in the official post-season test for two teams in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (30 November – 2 December).
Following a strong maiden Formula 2 campaign, the 20-year-old will join Arden International and MP Motorsport for the end-of-season test at the Yas Marina Circuit.
“I’m looking forward to getting back behind the wheel of a Formula 2 car at the Abu Dhabi test,” said Boschung. “This will be my first time driving an F2 at Yas Marina Circuit, so it will be an interesting experience.”
Arden International is a successful and experienced racing team that have enjoyed a positive 2017 F2 season, taking victory at Baku and scoring three podium finishes.
The British outfit have won multiple Drivers’ and Teams’ Championships in several single-seater categories, including the GP3 Series, Formula V8 3.5 and the International Formula 3000 Championship.
“I’m very excited to be driving for Arden,” the 2016 GP3 Series race-winner continued. “They’re a very well organised outfit. I tested for them at Abu Dhabi in the GP3 Series in 2015 and know how they work.”
MP Motorsport joined the GP2 Series in 2013 and have been progressing ever since, taking victory at Spa-Francorchamps followed by a second-place finish at Monza this year.
“It’s a great opportunity to also be testing for a promising team like MP Motorsport,” said Boschung. “They’ve had a competitive car this year, especially in qualifying, and have proven they can fight at the front with their victory in Belgium.”
Boschung will have to leave the F2 test a day early, in order to make the long journey over to Japan, where he will take part in the Super Formula rookie test at Suzuka on Thursday 7 December.
