BOSCHUNG TO DRIVE AT SUPER FORMULA TEST

Updated: Mar 29, 2019

Swiss ace Ralph Boschung will tackle the official Super Formula rookie test for a 2017 front-running team.

After an impressive maiden FIA Formula 2 Championship season – in which he scored a pole position and three points finishes - the 20-year-old has been selected to drive at the world-famous Suzuka Circuit on 7 December.

This will be Boschung’s debut at the Japanese Formula 1 Grand Prix venue, but the Swiss youngster has previously shown he can adapt well to new circuits, highlighted by his pole position and double-points finish in Baku, Azerbaijan this year.

Boschung is looking forward to driving the two-litre, Dallara-built car, which produces Formula 1-levels of downforce, making it one of the fastest single-seaters in the world.

“This will be my first time driving in Japan,” the 2016 GP3 Series race-winner said. “I’m really excited to be behind the wheel of one of the fastest race cars and at one of the best circuits on the planet.

“It will be an interesting challenge, but I relish it and look forward to getting out there and showing what I can do.”

Boschung is still exploring his options for next year, after parting ways with Campos Racing before the F2 season finale at Abu Dhabi later this month.

“I have a number of opportunities to further my career and Super Formula is a fantastic series, there’s a very high level of competition from top local and international drivers. It’s still early days though, so we will see, the most important thing is doing something I enjoy.”

The two-day Super Formula rookie test will take place on Wednesday 6 – Thursday 7 December, with Boschung taking to the cockpit for the latter.
